Mitch Albom

So I haven't been posting new books because its the holiday season, and it's been crazy. Well I was in Costco for some festive products and I noticed their best sellers section. And all behold Mitch Albom's new acclaimed novel, The Time Keeper, laid out in-front of me. I totally recommend ALL of Albom's novels. His story's such as The Five People You Meet in Heaven to Tuesdays with Morrie is so inspiring. And I honestly believe that everyone should read his books at least once in their life time. His novels are so raw and captivating that its hard to not fall in love. He writes with such passion to teach humanity the truth of life lessons. Eventually I will post responses to The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Tuesdays with Morrie, and For One More Day..

I am at the start of The Time Keeper and its already amazing... I'll post more in the near future....

Book 14

I've been jumping books in the past two weeks. For those who love to read HORROR genres this is a book for you. I started getting into Steve Alten's novels because I was forced to read them for my high school science class. ( Yes, it's very weird) But I actually got really into Alten's writing style , there is something so personal and haunting about his books. MEG is his famous book series, and I picked up MEG: Hell's Aquarium. It was amazing!

For those that don't know, this book is about the monstrous Megalodon. A 60 foot prehistoric shark that survived the ice age by living in the thermal vents in the Mariana Trench. Jonas Taylor, the main man in the stories, is back again trying to keep the Tanaka Institute afloat. Their main attractions is Angel's pups [and Angel is the main meg in all the series]. They however are getting to large and posing a problem for animal territory reasons. Thus Jonas' son, David, takes one of the pups to an up-coming Dubai prehistoric aquarium. They however are in search for more "extinct" animals at the bottom of Panthalassa. Things eventually go wrong and Jonas Taylor ventures out to save his son, who is trapped hundreds of feet deep in the trench.

This is a fantastic series and I highly recommend it! The series are pretty good, you can start from any book because they always recap things or do mini flash backs. I personally started on the third book in the series and I fell in love with it!

Book 13

I know that I am skipping series but I wanted to get started on reading a more mature, to say, genre of books. I was recommended by my co-worker to read Bared to You by Sylvia Day. I told everyone about the Fifty Shades Series [guilty] so I guess it was her way to repay the favor. Well it took me about two days to get through the whole book. However the only thing that stood out to me besides the obvious sexually inclined pages was Ms. Day's use of words. It's so captivating and her words are so strong and proper that I am just filled with envy that I'm not as gifted as she. I recommend this book to everyone! Mostly to women because besides all the sexual moments (which are a lot) the plot hits so close to home for women who have/had relationship issues. As for Men, you could read this to get a better insight on women and how we actually see men. If you can get through all the mushy scenes. 

Well the plot is SO (see the emphasis on the SO) similar to Fifty Shades that even I got confused at times. Gideon Cross is in love with a new New Yorker Eva, and they both are deeply attracted to each other.Which leads into their heavy sexual encounters throughout the book. In general although their relationship is complicated because both of them have psychological issues, it eventually conflicts with having an actual relationship outside of a physical one. Eventually they learn from each other's mistakes, mostly Gideon's *cough. But trouble arrives in the form of pass lovers of Gideon who are tormenting their already dysfunctional relationship....

It's an emotional roller-coaster but it's still a great read. It's really different from the works that I am used to reading but overall I enjoyed it....

Book 12

So this week has been uber busy, not counting this up-coming week. I work in retail so my perception of many things have shifted. In a negative sense, black Friday is coming up and I've been lacking on my reading. However I will not fail to present a book review. I read Enclave by Ann Aguirre, which is another Zombie disease civilization take-over novel. The writing is fair, although the whole concept in general kept me reading on-and-on.

The story follows  Duce, and when she turns 15 years old her job is a Huntress. She is living in a civilization underground surviving in the dark. The world above is badly effected by war and plague. There are those that are a-walking dead that the under-ground civilization hides from. She teams up with Fade and they eventually go through some strange and horrifying events that causes them to be out-casted to the surface. They realize that the freaks (the undead) are getting smarter, learning tactical maneuvers. The only way to survive now is to ban together with the local gang on the surface.. but will it be enough?? dun dunnn dunnnnnn.

 I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone who likes zombie books with a lot of action and butt kicking. I mean if you don't mind having  the main character a girl...

Book 11

This is an amazing book, I love the concept. I totally recommend this novel, it's a slow read but after the first one-hundred pages or so it picks up. Catherine Fisher is an great writer, she has some interesting ideas that at first was hard to understand. She created a futuristic world but yet with a Victorian-renaissance feel to it.

General Plot :

Incarceron is a AI jail that watches everyone. The purpose of the jail was to hold the world's worst criminals and in turn making the world a better place. The whole idea around Incarceron is that those enter--- never come out. ----- But after decades, Incarceron is holding the decedents of the original convicts. The only means to survive is to team-up with a gang of misfits for protection against the torturous jail.-- It is said that the Jail gives birth to new inmates and controls their inconceivable deaths. But the Warden's daughter is determined to break the rules and enter Incarceron to retrieve the long-lost heir to the throne......
